Hazakah Constitution
Brought Before the Chapter on the Fifth Day
of December, Nineteen Hundred Ninety-Eight
Preamble
The Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization has for its purpose:
This Body shall be known as Hazakah Chapter Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
Article II B’nai Brith Youth Commission
Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization is under the sponsorship of the B’nai Brith Youth Commission. If there is any conflict between this constitution and by-laws and those of the B’nai Brith Youth Commission as they now read, or may later be amended, those of the B’nai Brith Youth Commission shall be supreme in every case.
Article III Membership
Section 1. Eligibility
To be a member of Hazakah of the Aleph Zadik Aleph you must be the son of a Jew. You must live within the city of Atlanta Georgia or in the suburbs of Atlanta Georgia or in the city of Columbus Georgia or in the suburbs of the city of Columbus Georgia. Young men may join at the beginning of their freshmen year of high school, and may remain a member until they graduate from high school.
Section 2. Life Membership
An Aleph shall be eligible for Council Life Membership at the end of his Senior year of high school. To receive Life Membership, an Aleph must have Served on the Atlanta Council AZA Executive Board or has have served on the Atlanta Council AZA Extended Board for two or more years. The Atlanta Council Aleph Godol may use his discretion to decide if any Alephs who do not fill these requirements shall receive Life Membership. Life Membership is simply an honorary membership.
Article IV Dues
The dues for all members of Atlanta Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph are $59. This includes international dues, Atlanta council dues, and chapter dues. Dues must be paid by November first of every year. After that time, all Alephs who have not paid their dues will be removed from every roster.
Article V Meetings
Section 1. When
The business meetings of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization shall be held whenever the Chapter Aleph Godol and the Chapter Executive Board deems it necessary.
Section 2. Delegation
Each member of the chapter receives one vote and each member of the chapter Executive Board receives one vote. ALEPHS IN TRAINING DO NOT RECEIVE A VOTE UNTIL THEY ARE INITIATED AS FULL ALEPHS.
Section 3. Quorum
A quorum of the delegation of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization must be present to conduct business.
Section 4. Decorum
The Chapter Aleph Godol, with help of the Shotarim, shall maintain proper meeting decorum. The Chapter Aleph Godol shall be empowered to expel, with fair reason and warning, any Aleph or guest from the meeting.
Article VI The Hazakah Executive Board
Section 1. Names
Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization shall have the following elected officers: Aleph Godol, Aleph S’gan, Aleph Moreh, Aleph Mazkir, Aleph Shaliach, Aleph Gizbor, Aleph Sopher (*Note—The Kohein Godol is not elected. The Past Chapter Aleph Godol is automatically granted the position).
Section 2. Duties
A. Chapter Aleph Godol—President
The terms of all officers of Hazakah Chapter Number Two Thousand Four Hundred And Fifty-Eight of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization shall last one-half of a year. Elections will be held in January and again in May or June.
Article VII Rules For Amending This Constitution
Section 1 Where and When
The Official Constitution of Hazakah Chapter Number Two Thousand Four Hundred And Fifty-Eight of the Atlanta Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization can be amended at a regular chapter business meeting.
Section 2 Regulations
All amendments to the constitution must be submitted no less than 24 hours prior to the meeting where the amendment will be voted on to the Aleph Godol of the Chapter. All amendments are subject to the veto of the Chapter Aleph Godol or the Advisory Board.
Section 3 Delegation
Amendments to this constitution must be passed by a two-thirds vote by a quorum of the delegation.
Article VIII Amendments
Amendment I Removal of Officers
In the event of a bad attendance record on the part of any Chapter Executive Board member, a two-thirds vote of the Chapter Executive Board can remove the member from office.
Amendment II Removal of Advisors
In the event of inadequacy of the advisor, the Chapter Executive Board may remove him/her with a unanimous vote.
Amendment III AIT Privileges
Section 1. Alephs in Training shall be granted the right to vote once they have paid their dues.
Section 2. Alephs in Training shall, on the night of the mid-year election, be initiated in the fashion described in the AZA Ceremony Book. From then on, they are considered full Alephs.
Section 3. Alephs in Training may run for any board position at the mid-year election with the exception of the offices of Chapter Aleph Godol, Chapter Aleph S’gan, and Chapter Aleph Moreh.
Amendment IV Contracts
To assure that the members of the Chapter Executive Board are informed of their ex-officio duties, a contract shall be signed by each. The contract shall be written by the Chapter Aleph Mazkir. Each contract shall have the list of ex-officio duties as written in the constitution for each Chapter Executive Board position. All other information contained therein shall be subject to the editing of the Chapter Aleph Godol. The contract shall be kept in the briefcase of the Chapter Aleph Godol and shall be returned to each Aleph at the expiration of his term.
Amendment V Tobacco
The use of tobacco products at all Chapter events in prohibited. This includes smoking and chewing tobacco.
Amendment VI Chapter Life Membership
Any member of Hazakah shall be elgible for Hazakah Life Membership at the end of his senior year of high school. Life Membership shall be given at the final Chapter Meeting of the year. If a member who is moving to another city wishes to give life, he may at the discretion of the Godol. Life Membership is simply an honorary membership.
In witness hereof, we, the authors of this constitution of Hazakah, Chapter Number Two Thousand Four Hundred And Fifty-Eight of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph, hereby do agree to all terms which are contained herein, swear to uphold these terms, and pledge our Jewish Youth to the Aleph Zadik Aleph.

Preamble
The Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization has for its purpose:
- The spiritual, mental, and physical development of Jewish Youth;
- The inoculation of love and understanding of their Jewish cultural heritage;
- The stimulation of responsibility as good citizens of the community in which they live, as well as the larger Jewish community;
- The encouragement of good will among the youth of all peoples, and Interests in humanitarian, philanthropic, and educational endeavors.
This Body shall be known as Hazakah Chapter Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
Article II B’nai Brith Youth Commission
Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization is under the sponsorship of the B’nai Brith Youth Commission. A. Chapter Aleph Godol—President
- Preside over all business meetings of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.

- Represent Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization at all Chapter, Atlanta Council, and Southern Region events and conventions.
- Present a written State of the Order at the Chapter election that concludes his term.
- Correspond with the Atlanta Council Aleph Godol.
- See that communication is intact on the Chapter Executive Board level between the Chapter Executive Board Members.
- See that the Chapter Executive Board Members Communicate with their Council Counterpart.
- Behave as a model Aleph of integrity, courtesy, and character so as to be a role model for all Alephs of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
- Preside in the absence of the Chapter Aleph Godol.
- Promote the Five Folds of Programming in all programs.
- Preside at all business meetings of the Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization Executive Board.
- Oversee the planning of all Chapter programs.
- Fill out and turn in all Program Banks and Meeting Banks for each Chapter program.
- Correspond with the Atlanta Council Aleph S’gan.
- Show Perfect Attendance to all Chapter events and all regular Atlanta Council events.
- Attend the Leadership Training Institute of Atlanta Council BBYO.
- Behaves as a model Aleph of integrity, courtesy, and character so as to be a role model for all Alephs of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
- Responsible for the recruitment and retention of all Alephs who are in or wish to be in Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
- Performs the training of all of the Alephs in Training of the Chapter.
- Coordinate a Membership Drive for the perspective members of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
- Promote Fraternity and teach the traditions of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization and Atlanta Council AZA to all Alephs in Training.
- Correspond with the Atlanta Council Aleph Moreh.
- Show Perfect Attendance to all Chapter events and all regular Atlanta Council events.
- Attend the Atlanta Council Leadership Training Institute.
- Attend the Atlanta Council New Member Convention and serve as Atlanta Council Steering at that convention.
- Behave as a model Aleph of integrity, courtesy, and character so as to be a role model for all Alephs of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
- Record the Proceedings of all Chapter Business meetings and all Chapter Executive Board meetings of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
- Keep the Constitution of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization up to date following the passing of amendments.
- Call role at all Chapter Business Meetings and all Chapter Executive Board Meetings of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
- Read the proceedings of the past meetings, Executive Board and Chapter Business respectively.
- Establish and maintain a working phone tree and maintain communication in the chapter.
- Maintain Chapter rosters and Chapter e-mail
- Appoint Chair of Hazakah Internet site.
- Produces all fliers and sends them to all Chapter Members or, in the event of a Chapter-planned Atlanta Council Event, sends the fliers to all of Atlanta Council AZA or BBG or BBYO respectively.
- Attends the Atlanta Council BBYO Leadership Training Institute.
- Corresponds with the Atlanta Council Aleph Mazkir.
- Show Perfect Attendance to all Chapter events and all regular Atlanta Council events.
- Behaves as a model Aleph of integrity, courtesy, and character so as to be a role model for all Alephs of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
- Assist the Aleph S’gan in the planning of all events concerning community service, Judaism, and education.
- Promote Jewish Heritage throughout the Chapter.
- Correspond with the Atlanta Council Aleph Shaliach.
- Attend the Atlanta Council BBYO Leadership Training Institute.
- Show Perfect Attendance to all Chapter events and all regular Atlanta Council events.
- Behaves as a model Aleph of integrity, courtesy, and character so as to be a role model for all Alephs of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
- Collect Money at all Chapter events.
- Attend the Atlanta Council BBYO Leadership Training Institute.
- Correspond with the Atlanta Council Aleph Gizbor.
- Show Perfect Attendance to all Chapter events and all regular Atlanta Council events.
- Assist the Chapter Aleph S’gan in planning fundraisers.
- Educate Chapter members of the purpose of the International Service Fund and promote that fund.
- Behaves as a model Aleph of integrity, courtesy, and character so as to be a role model for all Alephs of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
- Make a newspaper for the chapter and send it out to the chapter members and the Atlanta Council Aleph Godol, the Atlanta Council BBYO Staff, and the Atlanta Council Aleph Mazkir.
- Correspond with the Atlanta Council Aleph Mazkir.
- Attend the Atlanta Council BBYO Leadership Training Institute.
- Show Perfect Attendance to all Chapter events and all regular Atlanta Council events.
- Behaves as a model Aleph of integrity, courtesy, and character so as to be a role model for all Alephs of Hazakah Number 2458 of the Atlanta Council of the Southern Region of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai Brith Youth Organization.
